Wireless connectivity is very much driven by the need for flexible working with laptops, mobiles, handheld and smart devices, and the need to provide internet access to guests, be those customers, students or business associates.

Public spaces have not traditionally needed to provide internet access, however estate owners realise the benefits of providing access, encouraging people to visit and to spend money in their establishment. Universities and colleges have to consider needs of their ‘customers’; providing access whether in the library, lecture theatres or halls of residence and for those that will be connecting with their own personal devices.

In these environments the choice between wired and wireless is heavily stacked in favour of wireless connectivity services, which are unobtrusive, ubiquitous and easy to deploy. Wireless solutions allow authorised access regardless of location and can cause less physical disruption to deploy.
